About the role

ORBCOMM’s Integrated Supply Chain Organization is seeking a Sr. Director, Planning who has a proven Supply Chain Planning background to run its planning organization globally. This position will report to the SVP of Integrated Supply Chain at ORBCOMM.
 
This incumbent will be responsible to deploy, execute, and improve ORBCOMM’s Sales Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) processes. Lead a global team of planners and provide a strong linkage between the Business Unit objectives and operational execution to achieve on-time delivery targets, inventory optimization for raw and finished goods, and operating margins. 
 
This role will balance the demand and supply across multiple Contract Manufacturers to provide consistent inputs and outputs to the specific Business Unit planning process, run the monthly SIOP meetings and ensure cross-functional communication of information, leading to timely demand and supply decisions, execution, and closure of all escalations. This role will also be responsible for developing and executing ORBCOMM’s inventory strategy.
 
The ideal candidate is someone with a track record of high performance in supply chain leadership role(s) and has a “Customer First” mindset. You will negotiate, influence and resolve internal supply chain issues to achieve customer satisfaction targets at the optimal cost to ORBCOMM. Prior experience in leading and coaching supply chain teams in multiple sites, have strong business acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills is required.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement SIOP process at ORBCOMM.
  • Work with Integrated supply chain & commercial team to develop robust process to improve delivery performance while optimizing Raw Material, WIP & FG’s inventory.
  • Create scenario plans to balance demand and supply.
  • Establish and execute finished goods and raw material allocation process when supply is constrained due to material availability or capacity constraints.
  • Develop an inventory plan that will support inventory targets through appropriate parameter settings including safety stock and master scheduling static data at Contract manufacturer.
  • Conduct and facilitate what-if analysis to create alternate scenarios for reconciling demand and supply with the financial plan
  • Run the monthly SIOP meetings and fully resolve escalations from Demand & Supply Reviews
  • Drive key improvement projects with EMS and operation teams to improve supply chain performance.  Provide thought leadership in solving complex supply planning challenges.
  • Facilitate product lifecycle visibility in the SIOP process, coordinate capacity solutions and manage phase-in and phase-out inventory risks.

    • Runs the monthly SIOP meetings, ensuring inputs and outputs are clearly articulated and drives performance to targets, mitigating any risks and resolving issues throughout.
    • Helps to create energy and enthusiasm in the supply planning process.
  • Process and Data Orientation:
    • Clearly understands a high volume of data and able to interpret and present to support decision making.
    • Experience in using problem-solving tools and techniques to create improvements.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business, supply chain, engineering, economics or equivalent discipline.
  • 15+ years’ work experience with relevance to supply chain including planning, operations and inventory planning.  
  • Previous experience working with global environment.
  • An analytical mind with attention to detail and an ability to interpret data for decision making.
  • A passion to succeed and challenge the status quo where value adding.
  • Advanced Planning System experience preferred (ASCP, APO, Kinaxis, JDA, etc.)
  • Experience in project management preferred. 
  • Supply chain certifications and six sigma experience is a plus.
