At Voyageur Stays, we’re curating more than just beautiful, furnished rentals in downtown Madison, WI—we’re crafting experiences. Our sister company, Voyageur Design Build, takes that creativity even further by bringing innovation, beauty, and affordability to custom design projects. Whether it’s designing one-of-a-kind artist-made rugs or pushing the boundaries on affordable custom design, we’re always pushing boundaries.Our latest achievement? The Medallion, a Madison-based extended stay apartment, has put Wisconsin on the global design map as the state’s first-ever finalist for the prestigious Dezeen Design Awards. Selected from over 4,000 entries worldwide, we’re one of five finalists in the global hotel and short-stay category. Beyond that, we’ve won the In Business Commercial Design Award for Best Renovation in Wisconsin and were finalists for the Destination Madison Rising Stars Award.

15-25 hours per week. In person work Monday-Friday during business hours with some project work outside of that. Set schedule but flexible based around your schedule. Hybrid work includes some in remote work and other time meeting with the founders, team, and potential clients.Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

1Qualifications:
-A passion for design and creativity that matches our energy.-People person with strong communication skills—able to intuitively sense direction, take initiative, and connect authentically with others.
-Excellent writing skills, especially for social media, press releases, email, brochures, awards, and marketing copy.
-Ability to thrive in new, unfamiliar situations and offer solutions with minimal supervision.
-Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn) and basic photo/video editing.
-Strong organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects.
-Enthusiasm for small businesses and a willingness to wear many hats—shadowing, admin work, and hands-on tasks.
-Some experience in business development, marketing, sales, Public Relations, and events is preferred, but drive, passion, and intelligence are what we value most.
Preferred Skills:
-Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
-Event planning and coordination experience.
-Knowledge of SEO and digital marketing strategies.
-Photography or videography skills.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
In this role, you’ll be at the heart of our business development, marketing, and sales initiatives, working across several semi-established, emerging, and new ventures in the design, hospitality, and retail spaces. This is more than just a typical internship—it’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in the exhilarating world of small business, where no two days are the same, and your ideas can shape the future of our brands.
We need a people person—someone who thrives on making connections, talking their way into new opportunities, and staying authentic while doing so. You’ll be comfortable navigating unfamiliar challenges, intuitively sensing where to go next, and taking the initiative to offer solutions and ideas with minimal supervision. While creativity and communication will be your strengths, you won’t shy away from the hands-on, gritty tasks that come with small business life—from shadowing to admin work, we all do it.
Whether you’re crafting a new marketing strategy, planning an event, creating social media content, or coordinating influencer partnerships, you’ll be playing a key role in bringing our bold ideas to life. Plus, you’ll be working closely with the founders, giving you the chance to learn directly from entrepreneurs who are building unique brands focused on boutique design and service.
