About the role

Description

The College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position (at the rank of assistant professor) in the Ethical, Legal, and Societal Implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning.

 

While this position is open discipline, the ideal candidate must be in the humanities or social sciences with expertise in ethics, social and environmental justice, and other significant societal impacts relating to machine learning, AI, and associated computational and algorithmic methods and tools.

 

This search is part of CWRU's Faculty 100 hiring initiative in areas including AI and Data Science, as well as Humanities, Arts, and Ethics in a Technology-Driven World. It is also part of the university-wide Experimental Humanities initiative (please see  https://thedaily.case.edu/jack-joseph-and-morton-mandel-foundation-awards-additional-1-5-million-to-experimental-humanities-initiative/ for more information). CWRU is a flourishing R1 research university. The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to bring their perspective to cutting-edge internal and grant-funded interdisciplinary research projects in emerging technology. 

Qualifications

Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent terminal degree, significant research achievements, and a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring at the graduate and undergraduate level. 

 

Successful applicants will have a primary appointment and tenure home within a department in the College of Arts and Sciences (a complete list of departments and programs of the College is available at https://artsci.case.edu/departments-programs-centers/).
