This is a fully onsite position supporting hospitals in the Metro Region (focusing on West, North, and Saxony Hospitals). This leader will be leading the operational excellence team supporting the IU Health management system and putting LEAN in place across the enterprise to ensure robust operational reviews across the organization. Previous experience in leadership and in healthcare are preferred.
Leads a team that provides training, facilitation and delivery of strategic, high impact process improvement projects at the Facility level. Partners with local system leadership to establish policy and direction (programs and services) for the results of more than one value stream. Executes Lean techniques and process improvement methodologies in support of the organization's financial, quality and patient safety goals. Provides comprehensive support to ensure on time completion of projects in alignment with the organization's mission, vision, strategic imperatives and Promise Dashboard targets. Uses process improvement, six sigma, change management (ADKAR), project management, and analytical methodologies to drive improvements to IU Health's quality and safety strategic plan, patient experience, and financial goals. Works collaboratively with physicians, local and system leadership, finance, business units, and personnel across the facility(s)/regions to execute these projects. Proactively pursues opportunities for improvement and drives the performance hub to meet or exceed Promise Dashboard and strategic goals. Accountable for developing effective practitioners and training their local leadership in effective performance improvement methods.

- Bachelor's Degree is required.
- Requires 5-7 years of relevant experience.
- 5-7 years relevant LEAN experience with complex matrix organization leading through influence is required.
- 1 -2 years experience implementing improvement projects is required.
- 2 - 3 years experience with complex matrix organizations is required.
- Change management experience required.
- Project management experience required.
- Process improvement experience required.
- Healthcare or manufacturing experience is desired.
- Experience utilizing techniques (at least 4 of the following) such as: VSM/VSA, DMAIC, Scientific thinking, operating systems, Training w/in Industry (TWI), 3P, various problem-solving tools, system thinking, Just Culture, High Reliability Organization (HRO), SIPOC and FMEA is preferred.
- Greenbelt certification desired.
- Requires basic proficiency in MS Office.
