This position is responsible for partnering with administration to implement systematic organization-wide Performance Improvement. This position will be supportive of the medical staff peer review activities on quality of care and comparative data and focus studies in accordance with the PI plan, Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and the Peer Review policy and procedure. Has knowledge of relational databases and medical information systems and statistical methods and applications. The coordinator is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data on related patients and outcomes. The coordinator works closely with the program manager/director, the medical director, and the registry staff to ensure data quality, accuracy, and compliance with national standards and regulations. The coordinator also provides education and feedback to the team and other stakeholders on data-related issues and best practices.
• Support the systematic organization-wide peer review program as assigned.
• Maintain the statistical reporting, data entry and database management for programs as required and assigned.
• Support the Performance Improvement Committee meetings and activities as assigned.
• Supports quality activities in accordance with the Performance Improvement Plan.
• Serves as the content expert for all assigned databases.
• Makes process recommendations based on results of data from assigned databases.
• Participate in chartered and needed quality team activities as assigned.
• Support and promote the scientific methodologies of quality: i.e. PDCA, Lean.
• Assure that collection, assessment and analysis of data occurs for teams, selected processes studied, clinical practices, operational and clinical outcomes, and other pertinent functions.
• Report data using statistical and scientific methods.
• Close the loop on quality initiatives in a timely manner.
• Ability to demonstrate measurable results and achievements.
• Effective at taking action on analyzed data, improvement opportunities and then bringing the actions to closure in a timely manner.
• Data entry, analysis and actions are accurate timely and pertinent.
• Accept positive and constructive feedback.
• Work with performance improvement group and other best practice and task force teams through conference calls and meetings as needed and assigned.
• Validate and verify data for completeness, consistency, and accuracy: clinical data from medical records and other sources using the registry software.
• Generate and submit data reports to the program leadership, the hospital administration, the state system, and other external agencies as required.
• Identify and resolve data discrepancies, errors, and gaps.
• Perform data audits and quality improvement activities to ensure data integrity and compliance with national benchmarks and performance measures.
• Collaborate with the program leadership to develop and implement data collection policies and procedures.
• Provide training and support to the program team and other staff on data abstraction, documentation, and coding standards and guidelines.
• Participate in program research projects and initiatives as assigned.
• Maintain current knowledge of program data standards, regulations, and best practices.
- 5 years ED or Critical Care experience
- Associate degree or Bachelor of Science degree in nursing
- RN Licensure Required
- BLS
