Description

SUMMARY: National Capital Treatment & Recovery, formerly Phoenix House, a nonprofit substance use treatment facility in Arlington, VA is hiring for a full-time RN in our Adult Men's Residential Program. This position is responsible for assessing and monitoring the client’s on-going addiction, recovery, psychiatric, and medical needs. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team members to coordinate addiction, recovery and/or psychiatric treatment with medical treatment. Promotes staff development regarding the medical aspects of addiction and recovery, safe medication management, and provides training with a focus on health and wellness. This is a M-F 2pm-10pm position with full benefits. Must have RN license in Virginia or compact state license.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide general nursing care services within the legal scope of nursing practice and standards developed by the profession, Nurse Practice Act, and regulatory agencies
  • Conduct staff meetings
  • Use professional nursing processes, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, while carrying out nursing responsibilities
  • Assess health care needs of clients through a variety of routine interdisciplinary assessments, and develops, implements, and evaluates individualized nursing and health care plans accordingly
  • Respond to emergency health care needs of the clients
  • Perform health screenings of clients
  • Collect and record data specific to the health status of clients
  • Collaborate to develop nursing guidelines/protocols for medical and health care needs.
  • Monitor and clinically directs special programs such as infection control and medication management
  • Participates in interdisciplinary planning meetings and recommends changes in nursing and health care programs and/or in the care of clients.
  • Provides health care instruction and information to individuals and staff relating to the promotion of health and wellness.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled staff meetings
  • Responsible for maintaining ethical standards and continued professional growth, including
  • Abide by Program and NCTR policy and procedures
  • Ensure all CARF standards are instituted and maintained
  • Promote, in public and private contacts, the quality standards and ethical practices of NCTR staff.
  • Continue professional growth by attending workshops, trainings and staff in-service trainings to increase skill and knowledge and to set appropriate example for staff
  • Maintain current licensure/certification including CES, CPR, First Aid, and Medication Management
  • Maintain professional boundaries with staff and clients

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently licensed in Virginia as a Registered Nurse for at least three years
  • Minimum of two years experience in addictions/psychiatric nursing
