About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our team at KUBRA. This pivotal role involves the implementation, management, support, troubleshooting, monitoring, and maintenance of our client databases within both production and pre-production environments, ensuring their seamless operation on a 24/7 basis! What you get to do everyday!

  • Provide direct level 1, 2 and 3 server and database support for development, test, pre-production and production environments · Collaborate with development teams to define and implement software tools using scripts and code for automated builds, database management, ETL/SSIS and other TBD. 
  • Maintain a high level of availability and support in accordance with SLA’s 
  • Install and maintain Windows failover clustering and  perform SQL server always on Availability setup, configuration, maintenance, and database migration.
  • Act as Database Administrator on multiple MS-SQL server always on availability clusters ensuring cluster health/functionality and focus on tuning and optimization. 
  • Manage batch data import and export processes when required and write scripts and code as necessary to do basic flat file parsing and database mapping. 
  • Perform database migrations in variety of scenario's to support development as well as client support projects.
  • Manage database backups and recovery tasks via native and third party tools.
  • Plan and implement server and Database upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches. 
  • Coordinate and collaborate with network, business application, and database administration function to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of servers to meet business demands. 
  • Manage SQL Server reporting services server, develop reports as needed for internal client services use as well as own database related reports.
  • Manage a small number of SQL Server Integration services packages/Jobs as well as SQL Server replication and log shipping.
  • Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports using variety of native and third party tools. 
  • Recommend and execute modifications to server environment in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance. 
  • Prioritize and respond to helpdesk tickets related to database servers and client support activities in accordance to change management protocols. 
  • Develop and maintain server and Database documentation. 
  • Drive design and review of new server systems, applications, and hardware; and conduct capacity planning as needed. 
  • Develop variety of automation scripts(TSQL or PowerShell) to reduce manual work related to daily activities, scheduled reporting , alert monitoring and all aspects of SQL Server administration.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure server/database security. 
  • Perform basic database administration of the NoSQL environment. Develop and improve own skillset and train other DBAs as needed.
  • Self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently but also interact and work well in groups. 
  • Provide on-call support outside of working hours for business critical systems.

What skills do you need?

  • Senior Database admin, primarily focused on Microsoft SQL server, technology is SQL server 2016 and above, different technologies - Microsoft clustering, replication, SSIS and SSRS.
  • Experience in query development, troubleshooting and performance improvement. Knowledge of PowerShell scripting to a level to read and understand scripts and/or develop his/her own in many aspects of database administration.
  • Must have excellent understanding of Microsoft SQL Server always on availability groups clusters and its operations, troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Must have experience as a DBA in a cloud environment, preferably managing EC2 based SQL servers (2016+) in Amazon cloud. Experience and understanding of AWS storage and instance technology and types. 
  • Proven experience in migrating SQL servers/databases from on-prem data centers to the AWS cloud. AWS practitioner/Architect  certification is a plus. 
  • Experience managing SQL Server and SQL databases in Azure is a plus. 
  • Experience working in a noSQL environment such as MongoDB as well as understanding of other DB platforms such as MySQL, PostgreSQL would be a definite  asset.
  • Experience supporting production environments within a change management platform, preferably, ServiceNow. 
  • Working understanding of regulatory compliance and privacy standards such as PCI, SOX, SOC1 & SOC2, HIPAA
