About the role

Overview:

Serves as a member of the Management Development Program (MDP) and participates in ten weeks of Core Training and one year of On-the-Job (OJT) training. Core Training responsibilities include participation in classroom training, observations of departmental presentations, interaction with senior management, peer networking, and working in teams on two group project assignments. OJT responsibilities vary by department and are assigned by the department manager. The position may be responsible for additional projects as assigned by the department manager or Leadership Development Manager-MDP.

Department Description:

Provides comprehensive investment management services to Wealth Advisory Services clients.  Operates within a professional team environment supporting the delivery of an integrated wealth management offering consistent with individual financial goals of clients.  We strive to deliver a reliable, consistent client

experience service as designed within our client service standards in partnership with U.S. Markets colleagues.

Department Responsibilities:
You’ll join a small cohort of Wealth Investment Advisors within our Signature Services group where you’ll begin your journey toward becoming a Wealth Investment Associate. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience by working closely with seasoned Wealth Investment Advisors, learning the Wilmington Trust service model, client engagement strategies, and the suite of investment products we offer. This foundational training will prepare you to contribute meaningfully to client relationships and support the delivery of exceptional wealth management services. Your additional responsibilities could include:


 

  • Maintain current knowledge of financial markets, Wilmington Trust investment process and wealth management offering.  Articulate current and relevant economic, financial and market information, as well as all available products/services to clients and prospects.
  • Develop Individual Policy Statement (IPS) with and for clients including annual reviews and updates. Implement investment strategy recommendations.
  • Prepare and review with Investment Advisor as needed, portfolio recommendation letters for advisory and co-trustee accounts, Account Officer coordination or best fit recommendations, and investment performance reviews.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of various Bank resources to facilitate client service delivery and expand client relationships.
  • Serve as a support associate to assigned Investment Advisor(s) as required.
  • Maintain a current understanding of changes in the industry including Federal and state specific and various government regulations.
  • Participate in sales effort.   Identify and develop additional opportunities with existing clients.
  • Maintain positive working relationships.  Provide necessary support and information to clients, Private Client Advisors and Trust Advisors as well as others for all investment products.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

After your first year with the team, you’ll continue your partnership with Signature Services, receiving ongoing training and support as you work toward building your own portfolio. This progression can lead to a transition into an Investment Advisor Associate/Advisor role. You’ll also have opportunities to pursue certifications and further develop your career in a client-facing capacity.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participate in and complete a one-year long, non-rotational training program while creating and adding value to assigned department. Receive job specific training, general training in banking, communication and leadership, and personalized coaching and feedback. Performance measures may include several objective test scores, peer and sponsor feedback from group projects, facilitator feedback, Leadership Development Manager-MDP feedback, Department Manager feedback, final assessment score, and year-end performance appraisal from Department Manager and Leadership Development Manager-MDP.
