FALL 2023

PSY65374 Diagnostic and Personality Assessment (3 units + 1 unit lab taught by Teaching Assistant)

In this course, students develop skills in gold-standard diagnostic and personality assessments such as measures such as the SCID, MINI, MMPI, MCMI, and CBCL. The course covers administration methodologies, validity, cultural, and differential diagnosis issues, integration of test results, clinical inference, and report writing. The didactic class is 3 hours a week and there is an accompanying 1-hour laboratory section that is led by one or more TAs supervised by the instructor. The laboratory section is expected to parallel and augment the didactic content taught in class. Students learn processes and get hands on practice to develop competency in administering, scoring and interpreting the psychological tests covered in the class in written reports with direct guidance and immediate feedback.

 

PSY61403 Developmental Psychology/Lifespan Development (3 units) 
The study of developmental theories, constructs, research and research methods as they contribute to an understanding of normative human development and its variants. Psychological development from conception through aging and death are covered. Contemporary issues and trends are discussed.
