This advertisement is for a SES (Selected Exempt Service) position located at Central Office in the Office of Programs and Re-Entry.

 

Salary: $106,822.82 - $112,730.54 Annual Range

 

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent in this position is responsible for administering the statewide religious programs for the Department. This position is exempted under 110.205 (2)(w) as supervisory. Duties and responsibilities include but will not be limited to the following.

  • Recommends and develops rules, policies, and procedures for directing the delivery of Community and Transition services at all major institutions and community facilities. Programs are in accordance with the Constitution of the State of Florida and the Department’s rules, regulations, and policies, ensuring that Community and Transition initiatives complement other programs designed to rehabilitate and support inmates in becoming productive citizens of Florida.
  • Provides technical assistance to the Secretary, Assistant Secretaries, Assistant Regional Directors, and Wardens in areas such as community and transition practices consistent with re-entry policies.
  • Provides procedural and technical guidance for the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers, as well as a review process for volunteers who have been denied volunteer status.
  • Recruits services and negotiates employment contracts for hiring local service providers in community facilities, including road prisons, community corrections centers, drug treatment centers, and probation and restitution centers.
  • Coordinates recruitment activities for Community and Transition program vacancies. Assists regional staff with recruitment and preliminary interviews of qualified applicants and makes recommendations to the Warden.
  • Reviews, approves, and monitors each institution’s and community facility’s Community and Transition programs and volunteer initiatives. Establishes procedures for screening volunteers, verifying credentials, and providing orientation that includes applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the Department.
  • Continuously monitors the Bureau of Programs through monthly reports, on-site visits, individual consultations, and annual management reviews and inspection reports to ensure that program goals and objectives are met. Ensures that inmates are provided community and transition services that meet their needs, consistent with available resources.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Department, the Legislature, and institutional and regional leadership.
