Responsibilities
Summary:The Behavioral Health Clinician will provide assessment and evidenced-based care to individuals, families, and groups in a varietyof settings. This individual will be part of a comprehensive Behavioral Health team that services consultation and liaison in theEmergency Departments and inpatient units of medical facilities, as well as the clinical intake, inpatient psychiatric units, and outpatient clinics within the Behavioral Health Service Line and Primary Care Service Lines
Responsibilities:*The Behavioral Health Clinician, as part of an integrated care team, identifies, triages, and manages patients with behavioralhealth problems within a variety of settings. In addition, this individual will provide skill training through patient educationstrategies and will develop specific behavioral health change plans for individual patients and behavioral health protocols for targetpopulations.*Performs counseling and case management for each patient assigned, including: assessment; diagnosis; planning care;intervention (including counseling patients/significant others, facilitating brief psychotherapy and educational groups, planningdischarges); evaluation (including identifying unmet or new therapy services).*Demonstrates the therapeutic core conditions of genuineness, empathy and positive regard when interacting with patients andsignificant others, according to generally accepted clinical practice.*Performs risk management documentation and follow-up action requirements, e.g. responding to patient complaints, contributingto completion of Problem Resolution Report and Report of Adverse Risk Event (R.A.R.E).*Recommends program cost control measures to supervisor.*Participates in the internal Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process, such as peer review, audits, Joint Commission surveypreparation, and implementation of clinical paths.*Selects and gives clinical supervision to Adjunctive Therapists and student interns to ensure these individuals practice appropriatebehavior- and skill-based competencies for each of these positions.*Keeps an accurate, complete and current status of documentation onto the patients chart.*Recommends safety and therapeutic quality measures for unit areas or rooms to charge nurse.*Conveys professional role model example for other staff through quality of own clinical practice; work habits; availing self toothers as a consultant on clinical issues; attending ongoing internal and external professional development events.*Performs other functions as required.
