About the role

The HR Generalist supports the culture of Sea Island, focused on retention and development of team members and the processes that support this goal. The HR Generalist must live the vision, mission and values of Sea Island and set the example for others to do the same. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The HR Generalist must be sensitive to operational needs and team member goodwill. This position is a true contributor to the growth of the company and the culture and requires a knowledge of personnel policy and procedure and federal and state laws regarding employment practices. The HR Generalist works with the HR team to deliver seamless HR service focused on driving results that assist our Operations team to be successful in caring for our guests, members and team members. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-2 years Human Resources experience with at least 1 year in a supervisory role preferred
  • Experience in hospitality or service-related field
  • Knowledge of employment laws and the ability to interpret policies and practices in compliance with State and Federal laws
  • Resourceful and curious habits to aid in the growth and development of the department
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive/confidential situations and documentation with discretion
  • Must have patience, empathy and the ability to mediate team member problems involving multiple variables in changing situations
  • Ability to professionally present information to people in one-on-one and group situations
  • Clear understanding of the end to end recruitment life cycle process
  • Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Should have strong analytical skills, be computer literate and have experience working with web-based HRIS systems and applicant tracking software
  • Proficiency in Windows XP and Microsoft Office products and the ability to create and maintain various documents and reports

  • Learn and follow all Human Resources policies and procedures to ensure full compliance with all company rules as well as all applicable state and federal laws and regulations
  • Ability to work with a variety of people and personality types; cooperates with co-workers efficiently and effectively
  • Flexibility to work days, early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed

 

Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Strategic planning and thinking as well as tactical execution of Human Resources projects and responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with leaders; must be able to influence and support a variety of stakeholders regardless of level inside the organization
  • Act as a team member relations specialist in the team member relations process
  • Review coaching, counseling and discipline forms to ensure they are written correctly and in compliance with company policy; upload to the HRIS system
  • Investigate team member related problems encountered by leaders and team members, and mediate differences between team members as situation dictates
  • Evaluate team member terminations by consulting with leaders and reviewing documentation to ensure all company policies have been followed; partner with leaders in termination meetings and as needed in coaching, counseling and discipline conversations
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback to identify problems and solutions
  • Support Great 8 project work; assist with schedules, charts and updates
  • Responsible for internal movement of team members: transfer, promotion review, and input after Director of Human Resources’ approval
  • Compensation review data collection
  • Responsible for maintaining policy updates, SOPs, handbooks
  • Contract review and administration for the HR department
  • Contract housing and billing
  • Reports and data, turnover, recruiting, employee relations tracking
  • Support HRIS system and capabilities
  • Assist with organizing and executing of HR team events and celebrations
