Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a Maritime Senior Structural Engineer for our New York, NY office.

As a Senior Structural Engineer you will work to lead project teams in developing a range of engineering solutions from the proposal and procurement stages, through initial concept and detailed design, and support roles during the construction phase. This is a diverse role that will involve your contribution and insight to enable effective delivery of its current portfolio of projects and bids for new work within an existing team of engineers.
You will be joining of a global team of 500+ maritime specialists who support on a wide range of maritime development projects including container and offshore wind terminals, waterfront development, cruise and ferry terminals, marinas and harbors as well as coastal initiatives such as beach replacement and coastal protection.
The office has an established track record of successfully delivering maritime services to port owners/operators, contractors and transportation agencies as well as government agencies, international financial institutions and private developers.
This position demands a high level of expertise and commitment to excellence in maritime engineering. The core responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Execute complex planning and design activities for multi-discipline maritime infrastructure projects, including container and cruise terminals, bulk facilities, oil/gas installations, marinas, ports and harbors, offshore wind farms, coastal resiliency and development schemes.
- Independently develop and comprehensively analyze calculations, drawings, specifications, reports and related documents. Oversee and critically evaluate technical deliverables prepared by junior structural engineers to ensure the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
- Provide authoritative oversight of junior structural engineers' work. Conduct thorough quality control reviews of design calculations, drawings and interface relationships to maintain the integrity of the multi-discipline project deliverables.
- Contribute significant technical expertise to the development of project scopes and design fee estimates in response to RFPs, ensuring comprehensive and competitive proposals.
- Assume a leadership role in coordinating the marine team with other in-house and subconsultant engineering disciplines. Conduct rigorous interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables to ensure cohesion and excellence across all aspects of the project.
- Perform meticulous condition assessments and site visits as required, providing comprehensive analysis and recommendations.
- Undertake essential short to medium-term site visits as dictated by project requirements, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to project success.
- Collaborate closely with project managers to ensure both technical excellence and business objectives are met, contributing to the overall success and reputation of the NY Metro Ports & Marine team.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field plus eight (8) plus years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Professional Engineering licensure in Civil/Structural Engineering.
