Description

Newcomb & Boyd, a multi-discipline engineering firm in Atlanta, Georgia is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Design Technology Specialist to work closely with our Director of Design Technology to develop, implement, and maintain Building Information Modeling (BIM) standards and advanced design technologies across our organization. This role will ensure consistent BIM practices, drive innovation, and enhance project delivery through efficient use of digital tools and processes.

Responsibilities: 

  • Work with Director of Design Technology to create, document, update BIM standards, protocols, and best practices in alignment with industry guidelines. 
  • Act as a liaison between Design Technology leaders and Studio BIM champions to ensure organizational best practices and production work meet the firm’s design and quality standards.  
  • Collaborate with Design Technology leaders to implement continuous improvement initiatives and best practices across all disciplines.  
  • Adhere to BIM standards across all projects and departments. Provide oversight and quality control for BIM deliverables. 
  • Train and mentor staff on Design Technology tools, workflows, and protocols.  
  • Provide technical support to project teams and troubleshoot BIM-related issues. 
  • Work closely with engineers and project managers to create integrated BIM processes across project lifecycles from design through construction and operations. 
  • Create and maintain firm-wide documentation including but not limited to project templates, families, and libraries to streamline modeling processes and ensure standardization. 
  • Implement workflows around data integration into the design process, including COBie, asset tagging, and interoperability with construction and facility management platforms. 
  • Identify opportunities to use technology for greater efficiency in modeling, documentation, and coordination processes. 
  • Coordinate and schedule BIM kickoff meetings
  • Implement BIM execution plans with project teams, including consultants, general contractors and trade disciplines. 
  • Engage and advise project teams for limited engagements on project specific work.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Expert-level knowledge of and proven practical experience in AEC authoring applications including Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam and other Design Technology tools. 
  • Thorough understanding of BIM standards, such as LOD frameworks, and COBie. 
  • Thorough understanding of building construction documentation process 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite 
  • Proven ability to produce quality construction documents 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of staff 
  • Strong work ethic and drive to produce high quality work outcomes 
  • Strong organizational and presentation skills  
  • Strong communication and time planning skills
