Position Overview
This role involves assisting with workshop activities, mentoring participants, leading ensemble rehearsals, and providing performance guidance. You will collaborate closely with other faculty and students, contributing to a dynamic learning environment. This position offers the opportunity to refine your teaching skills, inspire young musicians, and be part of a prestigious jazz education program.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in academic discipline and 4 years of experience consulting with faculty engaging on students in learning experiences that incorporate authentic learning activities; or any equivalent combination of experience/education/training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
A Bachelor's degree in Jazz Performance or 5 years experience as a performing jazz musician.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position should possess advanced knowledge of jazz performance and pedagogy. Strong skills in ensemble direction, improvisation, and sight-reading are essential. Effective communication and mentoring abilities are crucial for guiding workshop participants. A collaborative spirit and a passion for education, akin to guiding an apprentice or fellow learner, are key attributes. The ability to inspire and nurture young musicians, fostering their growth and creativity, is highly valued in this role.
