Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is hiring a Staff Systems Nuclear Surety Engineer (level 5) to join its team in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel Program.

Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do:

A Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer can get in on the ground floor of a system designed to provide another 50 years of security for this great nation. Nuclear Surety ensures that nuclear weapons are always protected against peacetime and wartime threats. A Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman on the Sentinel program will be provided with the opportunity to:

  • Performing decomposition of Department of Defense safety manuals into requirements and allocating them to design teams for implementation

  • Provide systems engineering expertise to the design, integration, and testing of a next generation ICBM weapon system

  • Participate in technical planning, system integration, verification, validation, cost, risk, supportability, and analysis for mechanical, electrical, and integrated systems

  • Evaluate the physical security design based on the Department of Defense Safety manuals

  • Interface directly with various compartments of the Department of Defense and Department of Energy to ensure safe design and operation of nuclear weapon systems

  • Use model-based engineering tools on a major weapon system to pioneer a new way to evaluate and analyze modern design

  • Learn a niche discipline that spans all aspects of Nuclear Power and Munitions

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need​

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a computer or software engineering discipline from an accredited university and 12 years of related experience, a Master's Degree in computer science or an electrical, computer, or software engineering discipline and 10 years of related experience, or a PhD in computer science or an electrical, computer, or software engineering discipline and 8 years of related experience

  • 1-3 Years of software development experience

  • 3 years of experience with software analyses / test or verification of requirements

  • 3 years of experience with any of the following tools and languages: DOORs, Cameo, TeamCenter, GIT, JAZZ, C, C++

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in computer science or electrical, computer, or software engineering discipline

  • 3+ Years of software development experience

  • 5+ Years of experience leading Software Engineering teams with the ability to team plan, execute, and manage the technical sco
