The Physician Assistant provides comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement. The Physician Assistant participates in daily neurosurgery specific inpatient responsibilities including inpatient rounds, consultations, bedside procedures, care conferences, parent education, parent updates on the plan of care, and communication with the primary teams and bedside nurses. The inpatient nurse practitioner is responsible for documenting progress notes, consultations, procedures, communication with consulting providers and the nursing staff. The inpatient role has collaboration with others on the neurosurgery team which are the neurosurgeons, the neurosurgery residents, the neurosurgery nurse practitioners, the inpatient care manager, and the social worker. No holidays or call-coverage will occur with this position at this point.  Anticipate little to no ambulatory coverage.   

  

Physician Assistants II (PA-II) provide proficient, comprehensive health care services to a defined patient population; obtaining the health history; performing a physical examination, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures; formulating and implementing a plan of care; and participating in patient and family education. Each PA II demonstrates commitment to professional leadership and provides leadership for quality & outcomes improvement activities, clinical research or evidence based practice, and organizational development.
