This hands-on role involves loading and unloading trucks, tankers, and railcars; operating forklifts and other industrial equipment; repackaging and labeling materials; and maintaining precise inventory records. Job Description:
General:
Receive/unload and prepare/load liquid and dry chemical products from/to trucks, tankers, and railcars. This work is physical and requires attention to detail as follows:
Maneuver and connect/disconnect transfer hoses
Climb up tanks, tankers and railcars to open/close top hatches and monitor load
Inspect tanks, tankers and railcars before and after loading/unloading operations
Verify product against receiving/shipping documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and damages
Product sampling and quality control in conjunction with lab personnel
Maintain accurate receiving/shipping logs. Record amounts of product received or distributed via appropriate computer program
Picking and staging product for delivery in accordance with specifications on customer orders or other instructions
Operation of powered and manual industrial lift trucks (with certification) to transport product in the warehouse, and maintain daily forklift checklist
Move raw materials to the production area and move finished products to the warehouse
Ability to lift and carry bags, pails, boxes, and pallets varying distances
Ability to stage and remove product packaging in complex storage racking within operating areas and warehouses
Repackage product into proper containers for storage or shipment. This work is physical and requires attention to detail:
Fill cylinders, drums, totes, pails or tankers with product and route to prescribed storage locations making sure of proper labelling, storing, stacking, or palletizing according to company and regulatory requirements
Give special attention to packaging, loading and storing of food grade and USP items.
Operate electronic scale and process devices
Carefully store hazardous waste drums in the prescribed area in full compliance with hazardous waste regulations
Responsibility for inventory
Examine stored product and report deterioration and damage
Rearrange stored materials
Assist in counting of physical inventory
General Maintenance
Ensure warehouse is clean, accessible and safe for all visitors and workers
When spills occur, responsible for immediate reporting and cleanup
Protect property from theft or damage
Other duties as assigned, including mixing and blending as required
Your Profile
Education and Experience:
High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or US military experience.
Candidates with prior experience in working with chemical operations (2+ years) may be considered if education or service requirements are not fully met.
Possess or able to pass exam to obtain Forklift Operators certification and demonstrate ability to operate a forklift safely.
Ability to read, comprehend and carry out detailed and simple instructions in English and write simple correspondence.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
Ability to learn and operate technology-based devices such as smart phones, tablets, computers, PLCs, operational technology equipment, etc. to carry out normal business operation
