Occupational Therapist PRN

Inova Fairfax Inpatient Rehab is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our team in a PRN capacity. We require at least 2 shifts a month, 16 hours total, 8 must be on a weekend. (more available if desired) Also, 1 major and 1 minor holiday required. Work alongside Physical Therapist and Speech Therapist for a full team approach. Ideal candidate will have experience in an inpatient rehab setting.

Occupational Therapist Job Responsibilities:

 

• Documents evaluation results clearly and completely according to department policy.
• Completes daily progress notes that reflect patients' responses to treatment, actual performance and an assessment as to status, relevant to the treatment plan, and eventual discharge needs and treatment summaries if needed.
• Completes discharge notes that include a summary of the course of treatment, progress toward goals, discharge needs, recommendations for follow-up and patient and/or family education.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts.
• Provides educational materials and methods appropriate to patients' level of understanding and motivation.
• Demonstrates essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment and protocols. Performs re-evaluations according to department guidelines – adjusting the treatment plan as needed.
• Showcases current knowledge of the application of therapeutic techniques and evaluation methods.
• Assumes complete responsibility over the course of Occupational Therapy patient management from the time of initial contact to discharge for functional progress, safety and treatment outcomes.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

Occupational Therapist additional Requirements:

 

Experience: New graduate occupational therapist (Prefer 1-year of experience)

Education: B.S. in Occupational Therapy - masters preferred

Licensure: Licensure: VA License required

Certification: Certification: BLS through American Heart Association (AHA)

Special Skills: Basic computer knowledge, proficient in English verbal and written skill
