Remote salmon processing facility in Kenai Alaska is looking for an experienced and motivated Heavy Equipment Operator for 2025 Salmon Season. Pacific Star Seafoods operates a seasonal salmon plant in Kenai Alaska, where we produce frozen headed and gutted sockeye salmon. We employ a crew of approximately 300 during the salmon season.
This individual will be responsible for operating our heavy equipment which includes but not limited to front end loaders, skidders, tractors, excavators and dozers.
Nature & Hours of Work:
The season runs from early May through early to mid September. The individual will be expected to work 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week for the duration of the season. As such, the heavy equipment operator must be able to stand, walk, work for up to 12+ hours a day. The work will also require being exposed to all types of weather and must be able to work in adverse weather conditions and be able to work in wet and cold conditions.
Requirements
Operate and maintain heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines at all times
- Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations on the job site
- Load and unload materials using heavy equipment as needed
· Follow all company policies and procedures.
· Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of heavy equipment operations
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical dexterity
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety· Must be at least 18 years of age
· Must show availability to work in the USA
· Able to work with minimal supervision
· Able to take directions and respond to feedback
· Able to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
· Must be able to stand, walk and work for 12+ hours, 7 days a week.
· Ability and willingness to work in a remote area of Alaska in inclement weather
SALARY & BENEFITS:
· The starting wage is $22.00 to $27.00 per hour straight time and $33.00 to $40.50 per hour overtime.
· Round trip airfare from largest city near point of hire to plan location in Alaska.
· Free room and board while at the Alaska Plant.
