SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The CI Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and executing continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing facility to drive improved operational performance. This position works to achieve a sustainable continuous improvement culture at the branch, and with key leaders within the facility and cross-functional partners to deliver Lean, and VAVE savings.
A successful CI Manager at our Carthage facility has a depth of process improvement experience, is a highly motivated hands-on problem solver with experience in automation, and injection molding processes.
MAJOR ACTIONS AND SUPPORT ACTIONS
- Manage total facility CI initiatives and progress to completion. Develops and maintains annual Operational Excellence plan with a focus on lean tools that drive labor efficiencies, and OEE improvements.
- Maintains a culture of Operational Excellence. Teach, coach and mentor site employees on lean and problem-solving tools.
- Facilitates and leads structured process improvement projects that reduce rework and scrap.
- Responsible to quickly adapt to financial gaps by adjusting timing of improvement plans, creating additional improvements and overall supporting meeting the branch financial plan.
- Use metrics to provide support to process owners in linking projects to strategic operational objectives.
- Adherence to internal and external Business Processes and Certifications synonymous with a large US Incorporation operating within the Automotive Industry and be a committed role model for our Company’s Beliefs and Behaviors.
- Fulfill assigned primary, secondary and or tertiary deputy/back-up roles as assigned and required on occasion by the business.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial / manufacturing engineering, or a similar technical degree
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in hands-on operational roles in supply chain management, engineering, or manufacturing
- 2-3 years of experience in a leadership role
- Automotive experience
- Experience in applying Lean Thinking principles in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in injection molding
- Experience in project management
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY
- Strong understanding of LEAN principles and methodologies
- Well versed in Six Sigma, ability to lead DMAIC projects.
- Ability to develop focused team activities, facilitate collaboration and cross functional Kaizen events.
- Ability to lead structured data driven problem solving.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of MS office.
