Description
An Accounting Intern provides financial, clerical, and administrative support to the Accounting Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Post financial transactions using appropriate computer software
- Receive and record vouchers, cash, and checks
- Enter debits and credits into software applications and databases accurately
- Check for accuracy in reports, figures, and postings
- Reconcile and report any discrepancies found in records
- Process checks when requested on a regular basis
- Accurately review, code, and process vendor invoices, including scanning and electronic filing
- Perform monthly reconciliations
- Maintain various vendor accounts while staying in compliance with company policies and procedures
- Perform data entry associated with accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Address and respond to vendor inquiries
Requirements
Education and Experience
- 1-3 years of experience with accounts payable, receivable, or general accounting
- Experience and other training or certification may be substituted for education
Skills
- Proficient Microsoft Office knowledge and skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles
- High degree of attention-to-detail
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Strong analytical abilities
