Associate Principal Data Scientist, Single-Cell Genomics and AI

Job Description

Our Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) capabilities are vital catalysts for our mission to invent new medicines that save and enhance lives. The Data, AI, and Genome Sciences (DAGS) function at our organization adopts an AI/ML-first approach to enhance target and biomarker discovery by driving the understanding of complex disease mechanisms. As Associate Principal Data Scientist, you will leverage your quantitative, computational and AI/ML skills in single-cell Omics to drive the development of state-of-the-art multi-modal AI/ML models to discovery disease biology. You will collaborate with Computational Biologists, Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and AI/ML Engineers as part of a cross-functional team dedicated to identifying therapeutic targets.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional team to identify research questions, data requirements, and develop appropriate machine learning solutions.

• Develop and implement cutting-edge AI/ML and computational approaches to integrate, analyze, and model single-cell omics data including spatial transcriptomics to understand disease biology for target discovery.

• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in single-cell omics technologies, multi-modal data integration and novel AI/ML modeling approaches and apply relevant advancements to improve existing methodologies and models.

• Publish research findings in relevant conferences and journals, and actively contribute to the scientific community through knowledge sharing and collaborations.

Required Experience and Skills:

• PhD in a relevant field such as mathematics, physics, computational biology, systems biology, or a related discipline, with 5+ years of experience in genomic technologies, single-cell genomics analysis, computational approaches, and AI/ML. Can consider MS and 8+ years of experience or BS and 12+ years of experience.

• Strong understanding of single-cell genomics data, profiling techniques, analytic workflows and pipelines, algorithms, statistical approaches, and relevant tools.

• Strong expertise and experience in modern AI/ML approaches, probabilistic modeling, causal inference, and advanced, cutting-edge computational approaches and technologies.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, and experience with deep learning frameworks and libraries like PyTorch.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.

Preferred experience:

• Relevant publications in scientific journals and experience contributing to research communities.
