Summary

The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth, who will become productive, law-abiding citizens. We are seeking flexible, dependable, and compassionate Substitute Teachers to provide classroom instruction to youth in secure care facilities. Substitute Teachers play a vital role in maintaining continuity of education, supporting academic achievement, and fostering a structured learning environment for justice-involved youth.

Job Duties

• Deliver instructional content in the absence of the regular classroom teacher
• Follow lesson plans and classroom procedures to ensure consistent learning
• Maintain classroom discipline and promote a safe, respectful environment
• Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional periods
• Communicate with education staff regarding student progress and classroom needs
• Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Maintain accurate attendance and classroom records

Work Location:  This vacancy is located at Swanson Center for Youth in Monroe, LA.

Appointment Type:  Part Time, WAE

Work Schedule: 3 days a week. 7.5 hour shifts

Compensation: $16.00 hourly

The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c)
