Sr. Payments & Architecture Lead

The Gig:

The Sr. Payments and Architecture Specialist will provide technical guidance and support to multiple teams requiring payment integrations or other system-to-system integrations. Responsibilities include architectural design, documentation, and the development of enterprise-level applications in collaboration with internal VV teams and external vendors. This role will also lead the design, development, and implementation of complex software solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of delivering enterprise applications, managing technical teams, and working with stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery.

This opportunity sets sail as a fully remote role based in the United States of America. What You'll Be Up To:

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise application development projects.

• Design and deliver software feature development, including platform integrations.

• Research and assess common industry payment approaches, open-source projects, new tools and applications that could be leveraged by Virgin Voyages to improve current operations or relieve technical debt.

• Support other teams and assist vendor management when collaborating with other vendors to use their services or provide technical services.

• Demonstrate comprehensive documentation skills to record old and new processes, which help establish new standards within VV.

• Oversee application support and governance.

• Excellent analytical skills and critical thinking.

• Provide support for production bugs, deployments, and release management assistance for owned services.

• Professional and excellent communication and interpersonal skills required to work through technical and non-technical problems with different teams internal or external, especially external vendors.

• Potential other duties assigned on-the-go.

SuperPowers Required:

• 15+ years of overall experience, with at least 2+ years of hands-on experience working with Payment Systems, Platforms, and related integrations.

• 5+ years of experience leading teams. Front-end programming experience in HTML, CSS, Next.js, Vue.js, and Figma.

• Back-end programming experience in Java, SQL, Python, and Javascript.

• Experience with complex cloud microservice frameworks like Java Spring Boot, Kafka, Apache Airflow, Apache Flink, Nest.js, and Kubernetes.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with cruise lines and the Versonix Seaware system and its APIs (OTA and XML).

• Hands-on database experience including implementing and running SQL queries, data modeling, data mapping, constraint analysis in Postgres, MongoDB, MySQL, and NoSQL.

• Extensive practice and ability to navigate and apply critical thinking when resolving multifaceted production issues and in development environments using key tools such as IDE debuggers, Instana, and Kibana.

• Thorough experience of documentation and presentational skills with the help of tools like Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Figma, Draw.io, and Lucid Charts.
