ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists department members in decision making process
- Directs and leads Set Up in daily assignments.
- Trains departmental employees in proper machine operation and the safe usage of production equipment.
- Monitors departmental performance, adherences to budget and machine downtime trying to maintain maximum press productivity.
- Fills in for manager during absences, leading department.
- Maintain strong channels of communication with Tool Room, QC and rest of the department and facilitate any necessary follow-up to ensure smooth handling of problems.
- Promotes Safety by:
- Ensuring the housekeeping in the immediate and surrounding work area is maintained or improved to the highest level possible.
- Wearing personal protective equipment (hearing, eye protection and gloves).
- Ensures Quality products and processes are maintained by:
- Understanding and supporting both quality policies and the Quality System.
- Performing work at a level that ensures quality of this position’s work meets or exceeds internal specifications.
- Identifying and correcting if possible any identified quality issues in the department.
- Participating in system or quality based training provided by the company or recommended by the company.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent; 3-5 years production related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong mechanical aptitude with functional knowledge of machinery.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. Occasionally, the employee is exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
