Position Overview
The Security team is seeking an experienced, visionary, and results-driven Senior Manager of Physical Security to lead and evolve our data center (DC) security operations and programs. In this pivotal role, you will oversee regional security strategy, governance, and compliance initiatives across multiple sites. The Senior Manager will direct vendor partnerships, optimize physical security systems and procedures, and guide a cross-functional team toward a resilient and scalable security architecture. You’ll shape long-term strategic plans, implement key risk mitigation efforts, and work closely with executive leadership, Site Operations, Design and Engineering, and Construction teams to safeguard critical infrastructure.
Essential Job Functions
Vendor Management and Maintenance
- Oversee national/regional physical security vendor strategy and performance management
- Evaluate vendor proposals, negotiate contracts, and ensure SLAs are met
- Drive consistent preventative maintenance programs across all facilities
Training and Procedures
- Develop enterprise-wide physical security training curriculums and certification paths
- Author and implement physical security policies, standards, and SOPs
- Supervise onboarding of managers and team leads across security operations
Security Enforcement and Visitor Management
- Lead enforcement of companywide safety protocols and site-specific security controls
- Design and implement advanced visitor management systems and escort protocols
- Manage incident response escalation procedures and staff training for critical events
Monitoring and Reporting
- Conduct data analysis from patrols, audit logs, and surveillance to identify trends and risks
- Review and approve detailed security reports for executive leadership and client audits
- Monitor third-party invoices and labor hours for budget forecasting and cost control
Security Systems Management
- Direct the integration and configuration of enterprise physical security systems
- Lead physical security audits and corrective action planning
- Manage access control platforms across multiple sites and ensure legal compliance
Collaboration and Coordination
- Represent the security function in strategic cross-departmental initiatives
- Partner with new site development teams to define early-stage physical security needs
- Influence design decisions to embed security controls from blueprint to commissioning
Conflict Resolution and Multitasking
- Address and resolve escalated security-related conflicts and investigations
- Lead multidisciplinary meetings and present action plans to stakeholders
- Manage daily operations while advancing long-term strategic priorities
Technical Support and Spare Parts Management
- Guide the technical support team through advanced troubleshooting processes
- Forecast and track spare part inventory requirements based on historical usage
- Ensure uptime and availability of key security technologies across all sites
Additional Duties
- Lead regional security response for major incidents or external threats
- Serve as primary liaison with legal and compliance on security risk issues
- Perform other duties as assigned by executive management
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 8–10 years in physical security management, with at least 3 years in a senior or regional leadership role
- Proven experience with critical infrastructure environments, including data centers and high-risk facilities
- Deep knowledge of access control systems, CCTV platforms, intrusion detection, and alarm response
- Strong negotiation, budgeting, and project management skills
- Experience leading large teams across diverse geographic locations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; executive presence and report writing capability
- Ability to synthesize risk data into actionable recommendations for leadership
- Exceptional multitasking and decision-making
