The Department of Medicine is seeking to hire a motivated Staff Research Associate I to perform molecular and cell biology experiments and manage a small mouse colony. Key tasks include qPCR, Western blotting, tissue culture, and PCR-based genotyping. Prior lab experience is required, but animal handling experience is not mandatory. The role involves maintaining accurate records, troubleshooting experiments, and presenting data regularly. Additional duties include supporting clinical research operations and coordinating with a clinical research coordinator to ensure project deadlines and compliance.
Hourly range: $26.52-$31.63

Required:
- Excellent skills with common molecular and cell biology techniques including DNA/RNA/protein isolation, genotyping.
- Ability to work efficiently and complete tasks with thoroughness and accuracy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational capabilities.
- Skills sufficient to solve problems and identify solutions
- Ability to respond to situations in an appropriate and professional manner
- Typing and computer skill/ability including word-processing, use of spreadsheets, email, data entry.
- Ability to navigate numerous software programs and applications.
- Ability to handle confidential material information with judgement and discretion.
Preferred:
- BS/BS in molecular biology or related fields
- Experience with cloning, mammalian cell tissue culture, bacterial transformation, immunocytochemistry, microscopy, mouse handling, dissection, and tissue collection.
- Understanding of University procedures and policies for working with biohazard, radioactive and hazardous chemicals, and disposal.
- Experience in a Health Care Setting
