Regional Asset Protection & Safety Manager - Detroit/Toronto

This field-based position reports to the Director of Asset Protection & Safety. This position is a shared service management role that oversees both Dining and Retail operations across multiple regions. The Regional Asset Protection & Safety Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating all Asset Protection and Safety efforts to achieve maximum effectiveness in inventory control and the protection of company assets. The position is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of Asset Protection Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) through leadership and influencing skills, compliance auditing, exception reporting, internal investigations and training, and the reduction of worker’s compensation costs through various safety initiatives. In addition, the Regional Asset Protection & Safety Manager will work closely with the Regional Directors and Platform Managers to increase operational efficiencies and profitability.
Duties and Responsibilities
Asset Protection - 45%
- Implement programs to aid in the reduction of inventory and other controllable losses
- Provide a constant review of informational resources to uncover losses through procedural auditing, exception-based reporting, the Business Ethics Line, CCTV review and report analysis and daily interaction with platforms and Senior Leadership
- Provide management reports summarizing and analyzing identified losses, progressing to resolution in a timely and efficient manner
- Act as the expert on all store systems related to asset movements that can cause shrinkage. Examples include POS (point of sale) systems, SAP, cash management, and operational policies
- Act as the expert on all physical security programs and processes. Examples include physical alarm systems, CCTV, new store opening equipment and process needs and the supporting programs of each
- Be up to date on prototypical standards and ensure all related tools are properly placed and scoped in locations.
- Facilitate training at all levels of the corporation on various aspects of Asset Protection and Safety
- Partner with Operations to lead or assist with new program development and implementation (SAP, ERP, POS, etc.)
Business Management 35%
- Develop and foster an open line of communication with the Director and VP of Asset Protection and Regional Director(s), in support of all levels of the business, with the goal of increasing profits, reducing losses, and eliminating all other business-related risks
- Oversee all aspects of pre-inventory reviews and post inventory reconciliation efforts
- Act as subject matter experts with the Human Resources and the Dining and Retail Store Operations Departments to educate the staff on Standard Operating Procedures
- Lead Region and Company level projects and initiatives to increase operational efficiencies and reduce exposures to loss
- Work in collaboration with the team to update the Retail and Dining AP & Safety SOPs every year
- Provide leadership to all departments regarding the updating or development of new policies, processes, or procedures
- Provide guidance in the decision-making processes of progressive discipline, performance management, career development, performance reviews, hiring and terminations
Safety & Risks 20%
- Act as a liaison for claim related issues between the Safety and Loss Control Manager and field leadership
- Support the implementation of solutions to increase safety and other risk mitigation and compliance standards
- Facilitate training at all levels of the company to create a safe working environment
- Execute General Safety and Food Safety compliance audits to identify and remediate potential risk exposures
Job Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, high school diploma or equivalent is required
Experience
- Progressive experience in Retail /Food service Asset Protection and Safety.
- Minimum of 5 years retail and or food and beverage Asset Protection and Safety experience in a multi-store environment.
Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:
- Bi-Lingual French and English
- Ability to work flexible shifts in a 7/365-day team-oriented environment
- Ability to communicate (orally and written) effectively using the English language
- Be able to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills; possess advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
