Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Senior Staff Software Engineer - Architect Development Lead to join our team in San Diego, California.

The candidate should be a self-starter with familiarity working in an Integrated Product Team construct. In this role you will lead the software engineering team with responsibilities that include managing design, architecture, development, and administration of embedded and real time systems. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams, such as with Systems Engineering, Cloud & Application, Test Automation, DevSecOps and Systems Test, in an Agile software development environment.

Roles and Responsibilities will include

  • Leads multi-disciplinary team or software, hardware, and systems engineers, to develop and deliver solutions that meet quality, cost and schedule objectives.
  • Supports Program Management in new business opportunities to include: capture, SOW shaping, technology evaluations, authoring white papers, trade studies, process improvement, and bidding & proposals.
  • Manage the baselining of new software efforts to include labor & non-labor planning & earned value management
  • Facilitate collaboration with software developers, system engineers, hardware engineers, and integration/test engineers to diagnose and identify the root cause of problems found during software installation, integration, acceptance test, and operational events. 
  • Lead integration and troubleshooting of software components across multiple networks interfacing with customer SMEs.  Ensure that through documentation is created and maintained to allow others to integrate in the future.
  • Manage all aspects of the design and development of integrating new capabilities and technologies from initial studies all the way through TMRR and EMD development lifecycles.
  • Serve as the primary Software Engineering technical conduit between the Technical Team, multiple program integrated product teams, Engineering Integration and Execution Organization, Operating Units (OUs) and several other technical organizations. 

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility.  There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position.  Travel up to 25% may be required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 14 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience leading software teams with at least 10+ software engineers
  • Experience in integration and testing of software and hardware component in Unix and windows environments.
  • Must have experience with formal software life cycle development methodologies and requirements through test.
  • Ability to lead software installation, integration and acceptance testing activities
  • Active DoD Top Secret SCI clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
