Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking an experienced technology leader with diverse pharma experience to join the Biotherapeutics Discovery department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. The position offers an exciting opportunity to lead in bringing innovative enabling technologies to Biotherapeutics Discovery in the areas of Half-life Extension (HLE), Extended Release (XR) and Delivery of biologics across the blood brain barrier through internal and external collaboration and academic partnerships.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Strategically lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary team of external and internal collaborators and post-docs to deliver innovative technologies to expand opportunities for New Therapeutic Concepts in the area of Biotherapeutics
• Develop and execute technology strategies in the area of HLE and XR for retinopathy and regenerative medicine- planning, implementation, and monitoring of initiatives for biotherapeutics discovery and development process
• Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend platform solutions (molecular format) to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity for retinal applications.
• Develop and execute technology strategies in the area of BBB crossing for neurodegenerative diseases- planning, implementation, and monitoring of initiatives for biotherapeutics discovery and development process
• Collaborate and work closely with Development to identify synergies with clinical candidates and technology platforms.
• Work closely with other therapeutic area leaders, scientists, PK/PD modelers and other key stakeholders to support a collaborative environment.
• Keep abreast of the latest advancements in HLE, XR and BBB technologies. Evaluate and recommend new tools, platforms, and approaches that align with the organization's Global Biotherapeutics goals.
• Mentor and coach team members to provide excellence in performance, organizational flexibility, diversity, succession planning, coaching, change management and personal growth
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and implement robust security measures to protect sensitive information. Adhere to ethical guidelines for data handling, storage, and sharing.
Requirements
• Ph.D. or equivalent, outstanding publications/patent/record (principal author) and experience in pharmaceutical R&D with track record of independent research
• Demonstrated leadership Biotherapeutics Discovery and Development ideally in the area of retinopathy and neuroscience
• Experience in leading drug and technology projects and matrix management of diverse teams across different regions / time zones
• Achieved distinction/recognition within the internal and external scientific community and/or has contributed over the years, a consistent flow of creative research (with a generally accepted likelihood of industrial / commercial application)
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, motivate, teach, organize and lead a scientific/technical staff
• Ability to harmonize global projects
• Demonstrated ability to work on international project teams in order to come to resolution on a project
• Offer scientific insight to projects
• Exceptional knowledge of scientific area of responsibility; ability to ask critical scientific questions and critiques devised hypotheses, experiments and results interpretation
• Demonstrated creativity and novel approaches to solving scientific problems
• Troubleshooting of key issues in successful technology transfers to other OPU´s
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with
