About the Role:
The Director of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology will advance cutting-edge discovery and development by combining deep computational expertise with strategic leadership. Located within IT Data Solutions to ensure enterprise-wide support, this role collaborates closely with R&D to fuel breakthroughs using multi-omics, genetic variation, and disease pathway analyses. By shaping computational strategies and developing innovative tools, the Director will play a pivotal role in identifying and validating novel therapeutic targets, ultimately accelerating the organization’s drug discovery and development pipeline._
Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
Oversee and mentor a growing team of bioinformaticians and computational biologists, ensuring the team’s expansion aligns with the evolving needs of the research organization
Contribute to the computational biology strategy for target identification across all programs of interest to Neurocrine Biosciences.
Design and implement computational approaches to analyze complex multi-omics datasets—including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and single-cell RNA sequencing—across preclinical models and human data
Direct the computational pipeline and workflow development to integrate internal and external datasets, including AI/ML approaches to accelerate target identification and validation
Establish and maintain collaborations with internal teams and external partners, including academic institutions and contract research organizations
Champion project-focused metrics (e.g., novel targets, pipeline throughput, predictive accuracy), ensuring alignment with strategic goals and maximizing drug discovery impact
Requirements:
PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field and 7+ years of experience in research, drug discovery and development OR
Master's Degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field and 10+ years as noted above
