Scientist, Small Molecule Analytical Research & Development

The Small Molecule Analytical Research and Development group has an opening for a Scientist based in Rahway, NJ. In your role as a Scientist, you will be part of a team of Analytical Chemists working on cross-functional scientific teams to enable novel small molecule, peptide, and oligonucleotide drug development through laboratory-based analytical characterization and statistical data analysis. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support execution of scientific studies to support the development of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), pharmaceutical formulations, and manufacturing processes using both traditional and advanced analytical tools.

  • Develop and implement analytical methods utilized during drug development as well as for the release and shelf-life assessment of clinical materials.

  • Troubleshoot challenges associated with drug development through active collaboration with cross-functional project teams

  • Document the execution, procedure, results, and conclusions of experiments in a detailed and organized manner.

  • Author internal memos, data summaries, technical reports, and IND/ IMPD submissions to regulatory authorities.

  • Strong collaboration with fellow Analytical Research & Development colleagues as well as cross-functional partners.

  • Engage the external scientific community through membership in professional organizations, attendance at external conferences, and authorship of external publications

Education Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field with 3 years of relevant experience

OR

Masters degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field

Required Experience and Skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong collaboration skills, are required. Candidates will also be required to work in a team environment with cross-functional interactions.

Preferred Experience and Skills

Though not required, the ideal applicant would have hands-on experience in advanced chromatographic separation science, spectroscopy analysis, and other analytical laboratory and data analysis techniques.  In addition, experience with data science, dissolution, and mass spectrometry is advantageous.
