Senior Tax Analyst (Hybrid)

SUMMARY
Reporting to the Tax Manager, the Senior Tax Analyst will have the ability to gain valuable experience in all aspects of the corporate tax function within a growing global business. The Senior Tax Analyst is positioned in the North America corporate headquarters, which will provide a unique opportunity to participate in developing and driving tax initiatives and strategies. This role will primarily focus on a wide range of US Tax compliance and accounting responsibilities, including but not limited to US Federal and state income tax, Canada income tax, and US international tax regulations. In addition, this role will apply principles of taxation and income tax accounting to prepare income tax provision as well as work with external firms to complete compliance process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparation of workpapers used to validate book/tax differences on the tax provision as well as the tax return.
- Work with outside return preparation firms to gather and report tax data for provision and return calculation, such as book/tax adjustments, Section 263A and Section 174 capitalization.
- Review and analysis of separate/combined/consolidated US federal and state tax returns.
- Review and analysis of Canada income and GST/HST tax returns.
- Preparation, review and analysis of estimated tax payments, cash tax forecasts, and extensions.
- Assist with international tax computations for budget as well as provisions with respect to BEAT, GILTI, and FDII.
- Maintain U.S tax attribute information (e.g. net operating loss, tax credit carryforwards, etc.)
- Prepare tax budgets, forecasts and long-range plans for tax balance sheet amounts, tax expense and cash taxes for use in internal financial planning.
- Review changes to federal and state laws as well as ensure internal calculation and estimated payment models are up to date.
- Implement tax process improvements under the supervision of the Head of Tax Compliance and Reporting.
- Interaction with Government officials, revenue agents and management as well as internal controllers, staff and outside vendors will be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or MS/MA in taxation
- 5+ years’ experience with federal, unitary, state, and local tax compliance filings as well as provision preparation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Knowledge of OneSource Provision
- Strong foundation in federal tax, deferred tax, and multi-state income taxes
- Large multi-national corporation and/or Big 4 accounting firm experience preferred
