Job Description

Coffman Engineers’ DC Metro office is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 10 or more years of experience in consulting engineering and project management. Applicants must be well versed in all aspects of electrical systems design and specification. The desired individual should be comfortable consulting to architects, owners, and general contractors, and have a desire to work as part of a multidiscipline engineering team. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have a desire to work and grow with a multi-discipline engineering team, and be willing to have fun. 

Qualifications

Requirements Include:

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Minimum 10 years of consulting Electrical Engineering experience
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Electrical Engineering
• Registration as RCDD is desired but not required.
• Healthcare design experience is desired
• Experience with AutoCad and Revit
• MEP Project Management experience is required
• Must have experience in supervising, estimating, and negotiating contracts
• Must be able to supervise and manage projects of varying sizes
• Excellent leadership, supervisory, and writing and verbal communication skills

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Perform project management duties for various MEP design projects.
• Prepare design tasks assigned by department manager.
• Perform complete construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
• Perform and supervise the execution of designs, including medium and low voltage AC, DC, emergency power, single line diagrams, electrical plans, and equipment layout.
• Perform and supervise the execution of both interior and exterior lighting design and calculate footcandle to ensure lighting design meets IESNA requirements.
• Participate in meetings with clients and provide engineering support through design and construction phases including responding to AHJ comments, shop drawing review, and responding to RFI’s.
• Review of deliverables, including QA/QC through design and construction.
• Attend site visits as necessary.
• Serve as a technical resource to internal staff.
• Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment (or demonstrate ability to develop such abilities).
• Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities (or demonstrate ability to develop such abilities).
• Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.
