Vice President, Marketing & Strategy (Americas)

What will you do?

A day in the life of the Vice President, Marketing & Strategy at Timberland looks a little like this. 

As part of Timberland’s Americas leadership and Global Marketing teams, you will lead the region’s strategic demand creation efforts for Timberland Tree and Timberland PRO, including go-to-market strategies, promotions, media, and public relations for wholesale, digital and brick and mortar.  You will also partner with sales, merchandising, strategy, operations, and outside agencies to develop and execute account specific strategies and promotions that elevate brand positioning and achieve financial targets. 

You'll report dually to the Vice President/General Manager - Americas and the Vice President, Global Marketing and manage a team composed of five direct reports:  three directors, one senior manager and one manager.  You will also oversee the marketing budget of $15+ million. 

Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.  You will: 

  • Bring Timberland’s global brand DNA to life through leadership and development and execution of marketing strategies that inspire our consumers and drive business goals. 
  • In partnership with the Vice President/General Manager, Timberland Americas, spearhead the development and execution of innovative, long-term business strategies to ensure the Americas region growth and sustainability, while effectively aligning resources with the organization’s vision and market opportunities. 
  • Lead all marketing and strategic planning within wholesale, retail and digital to drive financial objectives and brand positioning through all channels.  Build and execute a coordinated calendar of campaigns, events, offers and messages, ensuring promotions and events to drive incremental traffic and sales. 
  • In partnership with Vice President, Global Strategy, conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify emerging trends and recommend proactive strategies to maintain competitive advantage for Americas region.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive strategic initiatives specific to the Americas region, influencing decision-making across the organization to align with the brand’s strategic goals. 
  • Design 360-degree programs which integrate digital, account marketing and public relations with creative retail programs and raise brand and product awareness. 
  • Drive consistency between global brand direction and Americas market to execute and elevate our brand voice and attitude in the marketplace. 
  • Recruit, develop and motivate your team with the goal of creating a performance-driven culture where managers lead by example. 
  • Oversee marketing spend from both a planning and tactical execution perspective and analyzing performance of actual results (return on investments) against financial goals to maximize impact. 
  • Possess a thorough understanding of brand and financial goals as well as in-depth understanding of the market to stay informed of industry trends and key competitor activity. 
  • Develop strong alliance with key accounts, reinforcing Timberland's unique service model and leadership position in the footwear industry. 

What do you need to succeed?

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required and a master’s preferred
  • Ten-plus years of progressive experience in consumer product marketing and managerial experience; ideally with a footwear, apparel and/or accessories market leader
