About the role

This position provides support for grant-based objectives for the Promoting Postbaccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans, BRAVO grant. Responsibilities include strengthening relationships with community partners and facilitating graduate student participation in work experiences, specifically internships.


The position is a 12-month, full-time position that follows the staff schedule. This position is funded in whole by an external grant and is subject to immediate termination if the grant funding ceases. No employee who is in such a position may file a grievance over the termination of the position. While it is possible that grant funding may be renewed, the current funding for this position ends on September 30, 2028.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, implements, and grows a cohesive, planned professional development curriculum for graduate students
  • Develops, delivers, and manages career and professional development programming for graduate students under direction of department leadership;
  • Builds an evaluative work experience tracking system to assess skills and competencies gained by graduate students
  • Cultivates and expands on and off-campus work experience opportunities, specifically internships, for graduate students; coordinates with the Career and Professional Development Center Employer Relations team, faculty, and program directors to identify and support these work experiences
  • Builds a reporting system that evaluates the quality of work and internship experiences by graduate students
  • Approves and tracks job postings on Handshake for graduate students
  • Meets regularly with Project Management Team, including Coordinator of Graduate Success, and be a point of contact with grant director and project coordinator
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • 3 years of progressively responsible office or higher education program administration experience; experience in collegiate graduate environment is preferred.
  • Must clear and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
  • Must have a valid driver's license, motor vehicle liability insurance, and personal injury insurance, or have a self-reliant source of transportation to conduct business on a daily basis
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate intermediate skills in MS Office and Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook and PowerPoint) including experience with virtual platforms such as Zoom, and applicable student activity portal experience (Ellucian Ethos, Ellucian Banner)
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong public relations and customer service skills with an ability to implement diplomacy and discretion at all times; ability to work effectively with high school students, parents, school counselors, teachers, faculty and staff.
  • Must have high ethical standards and a strong sense of confidentiality; ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines; thrive in a complex work environment; display solid problem solving and interpersonal skills; work well independently and as part of a team; professional demeanor, appearance and strong work ethic required
  • Must have ability to demonstrate attention to detail and be able to organize workflow, coordinate activities, balance simultaneous projects without loss of efficiency in a multi-tasked environment, and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines
  • Bilingual Preferred (English/Spanish with the ability to understand and to make one's self understood to Spanish speaking individuals)
  • Ability to develop new ideas, be creative and initiate projects or programs
  • Familiarity with employer relations and graduate admissions preferred
  • Experience with academic coaching at the graduate level preferred
  • Experience in presentation of workshops or public speaking is ideal
