IAAS-Senior/Principal Engineer - Rust - Cloud Dataplane Projects

The Team:

We are looking for Principal Software Engineers to join our Cloud Computing Reliability & Efficiency Innovation Lab. This lab was established in Dublin in 2019 and our goal is to build the most Stable, Reliable, Secure, Scalable, and Trustworthy Public and Hybrid Cloud. Your role will be to shape the next generation of software engineering capability for Huawei Cloud and guiding the direction of work that impacts tens of thousands of software engineers.

Responsibilities:

As a Principal Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing high-performance software solutions in Rust. Your work will directly contribute to building the next generation of highly scalable and reliable Dataplane middleware in Huawei Cloud while maintaining a strong focus on performance optimization and security.

Design, develop, and deploy high-performance software solutions in Rust.

Uphold best practices in engineering, security, and design.

Spearhead both practical and greenfield projects.

Participate in code reviews, learning, and sharing knowledge with the rest of the team.

Requirements

MSc in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Proven experience as a Rust developer in a performance-critical environment.

Deep knowledge of internet protocols, networking.

Deep knowledge of operating systems, low level systems programming and performance optimization.

Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, memory management, and concurrent programming.

Knowledge of best practices, coding standards, and software design patterns.

Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a strong team player.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice To Have:

Contributions to open-source projects in the Rust ecosystem

Experience developing network infrastructure software such as load balancers, proxies, API gateways

Experience working directly with performance-critical packet processing or network protocol software
