The global communications team is the voice of Motorola Solutions, bringing to life the company’s rich history in innovation and commitment to help keep communities and businesses safe, productive and thriving. Our customers are everyday heroes – from police officers and firefighters to utility workers and educators – and we proudly tell their stories through thoughtful campaigns that span media, thought leadership, employee engagement and other stakeholder communications.


Job Description

This position is an opportunity for an experienced communications professional with a passion for corporate communications strategy, media engagement and creative storytelling, to help develop and drive the company’s profile and reputation globally. This role reports to the Vice President, Communications & Brand.  

This is a hybrid role where you will be operating out of our downtown Chicago office.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of a corporate communications strategy that drives key storylines with reporters, investors and other key audiences.

  • Serve as a trusted, strategic advisor and business partner to corporate teams including Office of the Chairman & CEO, Finance, Investor Relations, Strategy, and Marketing. 

  • Create well-crafted, concise and highly engaging communications including pitches, press releases, blog posts and other tools needed to tell our story.

  • Build and maintain key media relationships and pitch national and regional media outlets.

  • Support key company initiatives including issues management and crisis communications.

  • Support media monitoring and measurement, using the insights to guide future planning.

  • Outstanding writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

  • Media savvy and passion for media relations; hunger for securing top-tier coverage and the ability to successfully execute. 

  • Strong judgment and the ability to make decisions independently with excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills. 

  • Commitment to excellence, quality and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders, meet tight deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adjust as circumstances change.

  • Skilled at exerting influence, as well as collaborating, navigating and managing at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in journalism, communications or English highly preferred.

  • Prior Corporate Communications experience in a B2B environment preferred.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 8+ years of experience with a corporate communications department, PR agency or in journalism.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required, employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
