Job Summary:

This position conducts research to identify and prepare information and records required for public records, ADOA Risk Management, the Attorney General's Office and outside counsel for defense or representation in legal matters; assists and coordinates with legal counsel and agency personnel in defense of the agency, including identification and preparation of internal subject matter experts; collects data and issues arising from high liability exposure claims and torts; reviews and redacts records to public requests, pending claims and litigation matters, subpoenas and discovery requests pursuant to state and federal laws. Ensures evidence and record preservation orders are issued, sustained and lifted.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

This position conducts research to identify and prepare information and records required by the public, ADOA Risk Management, the Attorney General's Office and outside counsel for defense or representation in legal matters.

Reviews/redacts/analyzes record responses to public requests and those related to pending claims and litigation matters, subpoenas, and discovery requests pursuant to state and Federal laws, and agency policy.

Assists and coordinates with legal counsel and agency personnel in public requests and defense of the agency, including identification and preparation of internal subject matter experts. Ensures evidence preservation orders are issued, sustained and lifted.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

Principles and practices of paralegal practice.
Practices of planning of private sector and government sector liability claim and litigation management.
State and Federal Law, including those that apply to public records.
Court rules and procedure.
Government contracts, inter-governmental agreements, and permits.
Statutes and Administrative Rules governing liability claims and tort litigation involving state agencies in Arizona.
Microsoft Office/Google Suite products.
