Our interns experience a wide range of opportunities during a 10-week summer internship program. We are looking for candidates who have an interest in the financial services industry and bring with them enthusiasm and passion for working in a fast-paced, consultative, and growth-centric environment.
Each intern will be paired with a manager and mentor for the summer and will present an individual and group project at the end of the program. Interns are given opportunities to interact with senior leadership, learn about our various business areas, and network with peers and staff. During the internship, you will develop essential business acumen and engage with many aspects of our business. Our internship program includes professional and personal development training workshops.
Interested candidates should be currently enrolled in a college or university and seeking a bachelor’s or master’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.25. Interns should be planning on attending the fall semester/quarter following the internship.
- The internship program begins on Tuesday, May 27th and concludes on Friday, August 1st.
- This is an on-site and in-person internship based in our Hartford, CT office.
- This is a 40-hour-per-week role and is a paid position.
- Hourly wages are between $24.00 and $29.00 based on the level of schooling completed and number of Society of Society of Actuaries exams passed.
What you will do
The 10-week Actuarial Benefit Consulting Services Internship Program will provide you with valuable experiences with the goal of helping you develop a consultative and holistic retirement mindset, such as:
- An understanding of defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plans
- Analyzing client data used to develop pension plan liabilities
- Reconciling census changes and associated gains/losses
- Preparing ERISA funding valuations and government filings
- Supporting annual employer match true-up and non-elective allocation calculations
- Assisting with single and multi-year cost projections, plan design optimization projects, and complex non-discrimination testing
- Developing tools and models for key processes
- Performing actuarial research and statistical analyses
- Learn to work in a collaborative environment and build professional skills
- Deliver an assigned individual and group project to conclusion
What you will bring
- Currently enrolled in a college or university
- Minimum 3.25 GPA required
- Available for a 10-week internship from May 27th to August 1st
- Desire to experience an in-person office environment as part of your internship and ability to work in Hartford, CT
- Interest in applying your love of math, data, and science to inform business strategy
- Strong partnership skills with an ability to work collaboratively within a team and develop solid working partnerships with colleagues
- Self-directed and comfortable working independently on an internship project
- Proactively ask questions and seek help to successfully achieve goals and objectives while in an autonomous environment
- Approach work with a sense of curiosity
- Work with a customer service mindset and comfortable providing input to achieve goals
- Strong mathematical aptitude and computer skills
- Strong written/oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills required
What will set you apart
- Have completed the equivalent of 2 years of credits toward your bachelor’s degree within the past 2 years
- Expected to be available for full-time employment by mid-2026
- Preferred majors include Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other relevant math-focused majors.
- Passage of one or more Society of Actuaries exams preferred.
- Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and/or Python coding knowledge preferred.
