Description

Summary: The Field Service & Assembly Technician role combines assembly and field service expertise to ensure efficient machine assembly and customer service support. Responsibilities include on-site assembly, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service for automated bagging and palletizing equipment, as well as customer training and technical assistance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assembly Responsibilities:
•    Assemble automated machinery from blueprints, schematics, or verbal instructions.
•    Proficiently read hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics.
•    Mount and wire switches, terminal panels, and manage electrical and voltmeter usage.
•    Utilize power tools, identify and use SAE and metric fasteners, drill, and tap for assembly needs.
•    Work at various heights on ladders and platforms.
•    Proficient panel building skills is a plus.
Field Service Responsibilities:
•    Provide customer support through installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance services on-site or remotely.
•    Travel up to 75% to customer locations, supporting both machine installation and operational training.
•    Conduct safety and functionality tests, ensuring control interlocks and alarms work post-installation.
•    Assist local personnel (electricians, assemblers) during the installation process.
•    Handle CRM entries, document service reports, and provide feedback on project changes and customer needs.
•    Educate customers on equipment functionality and preventive maintenance.
Additional Responsibilities:
•    Complete job and expense reports promptly.
•    Support continuous improvement efforts and document processes to enhance service efficiency.
•    After-hours technical support as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•    Assembly Knowledge: Familiarity with LEAN principles, intermediate electrical knowledge, print reading, and proficient use of power tools.
•    Service Knowledge: Experience with PLC troubleshooting, including RSLogix and ControLogix programming, CRM (D365 preferred), Microsoft Office.
•    Skills: Analytical thinking, problem-solving, project management, effective communication, and technical troubleshooting.
•    Abilities: Detail-oriented, strong technical aptitude, able to foster teamwork, manage multiple projects, and maintain professional interactions with clients. Can work effectively in remote environments with little to no managerial oversight. Independent, self-starter, ambition for improvement.
Education and Experience:
•    High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree or technical school certification preferred.
•    3–5 years of combined experience in assembly and field service environments.
