About the role

Salary range is $125k to $230k, with a midpoint of $170k.  New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market.

GENERAL PURPOSE: 

Under general direction, and within the agency’s mission, oversee the deployment of all front-line staff within Sound Transit to support passengers in their journey across typical service and planned and unplanned service disruptions. This position is responsible for overseeing staff ambassadors, fare engagement staff and public safety front-line staff in the field. This position works hand-in-hand with a program administration peer Deputy Director that manages administration of the program in a highly collaborative partnership to ensure front line staff are supported, organized and nimble to support passengers daily. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following duties are a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

  • Oversees all front-line staff deployment.
  • Manages issues and concerns that arise from staff deployment in the field.
  • Oversees a large team of managers and supervisors supporting front-line staff. 
  • Ensures managers and supervisors are adequately supporting staff.
  • Manages field audits to ensure front line staff are performing at a top level. 
  • Oversees a broad performance management process for front line staff in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • Ensures all front-line staff are properly trained.
  • Works hand-in-hand with the program administration partner to plan in advance and ensure staff needs are met for equipment and other shared service support.
  • Contribute to budget development for the workgroup.
  • Manges a team of 150 or more staff.
  • Provides support to the division/department on matters as directed; serves as staff on a variety of boards, commissions, and committees; prepares and presents staff reports and other necessary correspondence; attends and participates in professional group meetings; maintains awareness of new trends and developments in the fields related to area of assignment; incorporates new developments as appropriate; ensures processes, policies, and practices are interpreted and applied consistently and effectively; ensures accountability and compliance with all current and applicable state and federal laws, Agency policies and procedures, rules and regulations.
