About the role

Primary Accountability

The Dental Patient Representative I is responsible for providing information regarding FHCN dental services to patients and their families and administering daily activities of the office.

Description of Primary Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for running daily provider schedules and conducting all necessary follow-up.
    1. Verifies insurance information is current prior to patient’s visit (running eligibility).
    2. Confirms patients for the following day during appointment confirmation phone call and informs patient of co-pay amount due at time of visit. 
    3. Responsible for following up on “no show” patients and maintaining the recall system.
    4. Educating and signing patients into the FHCN portal.
  2. Responsible for maintaining supplies and stocking items. 
    1. Maintains supplies of new storage and temporary charts along with necessary forms and identification cards.
    2. Maintains adequate inventory of all required supplies.
  3. Responsible for collecting and attaching billing information from patients.
    1. Balances cash payments daily.
    2. Assures accurate CPT and DX codes before submitting superbills.
    3. Provides financial counseling and referrals for program eligibility, sends patient’s information to billing department for any needed pre-authorizations.
  4. Responsible for providing customer service to patients.
    1. Receives incoming calls and directs them to the appropriate party. 
    2. Establishes, maintains, and updates patient records and files.
    3. Generates paperwork to register patients for network services.
    4. Schedules, reschedules, and screens appointments. 
    5. Verifies insurance eligibility and patient financial status. 
    6. Registers, inputs, and updates patient information. 
    7. Inputs provider schedules.
    8. Collects and attaches bills and billing information daily. 
    9. Works with billing department to resolve patient’s concerns.
  5. Responsible for adhering to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy, recognizing that regular attendance is considered an essential function of all FHCN positions.  Absenteeism is not being at work or failing to attend a paid workshop, training, or event unless the absence is protected by law. 
  6. Ability to present to and work at any FHCN location, both at the beginning of a shift or during a shift, based on business need.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Description of Primary Attributes

Professional & Technical Knowledge:

Effective June 1, 2026, all individuals hired into the role must:

  1. Must have proof of completion of high school with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or completion of General Educational Development (GED) with a minimum overall score of 162.5. 
  2. If an individual has completed a degree at a higher level than required by the role and had a stronger GPA in that program, they may provide proof of GPA from that degree in lieu of the high school diploma.
  3. Have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a front office or healthcare setting, demonstrating: Administrative duties (scheduling, registration, data entry, and records management), Business functions (insurance verification, authorizations, payment collection, and billing support), Front-facing customer service (patient interaction, high-volume phone handling, and issue resolution).

Technical Skills:

  1. Ability to prepare basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word. 
  2. Ability to use Microsoft Excel to create tables and simple displays of information. 
  3. Ability to create basic presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint. 

Licenses & Certifications: None required.

Communications Skills:

  1. Job duties require the employee to effectively communicate routine or non-technical information to co-workers and others.
  2. Effectively communicates written information (including electronic correspondence) and verbal presentations.

Pay Scale:

Min Hourly Rate: $21.00

Max Hourly Rate: $28.60
