Salary, based on experience and other qualifications: $73k to $124k Annually with additional bonus potential
Roles & Responsibilities:
Support the tax team in a variety of areas including sales and use tax, property tax, business licenses and registrations, and Canada Taxes (GST/HST/QST).
Lead tax exemption certificate compliance and governance.
Review and maintain various matrices for sales and purchases across all segments U.S. and Canada business.
Lead all indirect tax data analytics and governance.
Coordinate with external service provider to complete US sales/use tax, gross receipts and property tax compliance.
Cultivate tax technology and drive the transformation of tax processes.
Research and monitor tax issues, nexus and document conclusions.
Support tax audits and inquiries by tax authorities related to both direct and indirect taxes, including gathering necessary documentation, responding to information requests, and providing expert advice and guidance.
Assist with various tax planning and structuring projects.
Assist with research and writing internal reports on various topics to support the Company’s tax positions.
Preparation and maintenance of Tax Fixed Assets.
Assist with continuous process improvements and integration of various aspects of the tax function to achieve optimal efficiency, effective controls and quality.
Support tax planning initiatives, credits & incentives opportunities, and special projects such as business acquisitions and divestitures and provide analysis of specific tax impacts; responding to questions from the business, monitoring tax law changes and participating in business process change initiatives.
Communicates with Accounting, Reporting, Treasury, and Financial Planning & Analysis departments throughout the year on a regular basis; with Legal, Human Resources, foreign-based regional headquarters personnel and other internal parties as issues & opportunities arise.
Collaborates with outside advisors on various tax matters; Interacts with independent auditing firm.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Master's degree in Taxation or CPA designation preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in tax compliance and planning, preferably in public accounting firm or corporate tax department, with specific exposure to indirect tax compliance
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local direct tax laws and regulations, as well as indirect tax requirements such as sales tax, GST, and similar taxes.
Proven ability to analyze complex financial data, perform tax research, and provide actionable recommendations in the context of both direct and indirect taxes.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in tax software and MS Office suite, particularly Excel (Pivot Tables, Pivot Charts, Vlookups and creating custom formulas), SharePoint, Teams
