Ames National Laboratory is seeking a leader to serve as its Human Resources and Diversity Director. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of excellence and success in a dynamic environment. The candidate will be responsible for leading the Laboratory’s Human Resources and Diversity functions. The ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with multiple priorities within a complex scientific research environment is essential.
Reporting to the Laboratory Chief Operations Officer, the Human Resources and Diversity is responsible for strategic development, implementation and administration of Human Resources and Diversity programs and policies for the employees of Ames Laboratory. The director provides counsel to all levels of management on trends, strategies and policy development and interpretation. In addition, this role works with a team of Human Resources professionals to administer recruitment, compensation, employee relations, and diversity and inclusion programs for Ames Laboratory. The Director of Human Resources and Diversity participates in the National Laboratory HR Directors Council with colleagues from across Department of Energy National Laboratories and is a member of the Laboratory’s Executive Council.
The ability to work with, develop, and manage the work of others while overseeing and completing multiple projects with critical deadlines is necessary for success in this position. Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with a strong consultative approach to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, the Department of Energy, and Iowa State University are required. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
