The position is onsite in Troy, Ohio supporting our Hobart Filler Metals and North American ITW welding sales teams. 

Job Description

The Solutions Engineer Program Lead is a dynamic leader and technical expert responsible for providing comprehensive support across product applications, troubleshooting, and technical assistance. This role plays a pivotal role in serving product managers, R&D, Quality, the sales team, distributors/dealers, and end-users. We are seeking candidates with diverse backgrounds, including engineering expertise, sales experience, and welding knowledge, to foster an inclusive and multidisciplinary team. This role will also be responsible for managing Phase 1 and 2 employees in our Sales Rotational Program.

The Sales Rotational Program is designed to be a key part of our sales development program.  This program is aimed at preparing students and recent graduates for field sales roles within 3 years of graduation, based on performance and ITW Welding's needs. Participants will gain hands-on experience with tubular products, stick electrodes, solid wire, aluminum products, and industrial welding equipment through collaboration with the Applications & Welding Engineering team.  This program is divided into three phases to give focus and clarity to learning objectives.  Phase 1 participants are sophomore and junior status students completing summer internships.  Phases 2 and 3 focus on providing a solid foundation for recent graduates in applications and sales of our products.

  • Application Expertise: Demonstrate proficiency in the filler metal product portfolio and its alignment with various customer segments through hands-on welding projects.
  • Data-Driven Support: Generate and analyze key product data to cater to customer needs, enabling data-driven decision-making.
  • End-User Solutions: Collaborate with customers, whether remotely or on-site, to provide technical solutions that optimize value.
  • Strategic Partner: Offer technical guidance during complex negotiations and engagements with strategically significant customers.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Address intricate applications and systems challenges, offering alternative solutions and innovative problem-solving.
  • Technological Advancement: Stay abreast of technological developments and assess the feasibility of new techniques, ensuring we remain at the forefront of innovation.
  • Training and Presentations: Conduct informative training sessions and technical presentations on welding processes, theory, and our product technologies.

Influential Leadership Contributions:

  • Mentoring and Leadership: Mentor and guide entry-level talent, such as engineers and interns, within our sales rotational program. Develop a diverse team of technically proficient and commercially astute individuals, capable of supporting our customers and sales team effectively.
  • Team Development: Train, nurture, and manage the Engineers under your supervision, empowering them to excel in their roles.
  • Feedback and Growth: Provide constructive feedback to newly hired staff and interns, focusing on their strengths and opportunities for skill development within agreed timelines.
  • Talent Development Experience: Experience in talent development, including hiring, coaching, and managing difficult conversations.
