The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) plays a vital role in delivering specialized care and managing the health needs of patients in either inpatient, ambulatory, or a combination of both settings. With advanced training and expertise, the APP focuses on subspecialized care, including chronic illness and disease management, ensuring continuity of care throughout the patient’s healthcare journey, which may span multiple years. This role involves specialization in a specific organ system, where the APP provides expert consultation within their area of expertise as appropriate. The APP is integral to supporting patients across the continuum of care in both inpatient and outpatient specialty settings, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes. This APP will provide genetics follow up and general hematology/oncology management for patients receiving therapies at Belle Meade..
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Hematology/Oncology experience is preferred (not required)
DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
The Division of Hematology and Oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center conducts research and treats all types of adult cancers including solid tumor cancers and hematological (blood) disorders, as benign hematologic disorders such as coagulation disorders and non-cancerous blood diseases.
With over 80 faculty members representing a broad range of professional expertise, our dedicated team of professionals is committed to hematologic and oncologic care through:
Research to better understand and treat cancers and benign hematologic diseases
Translating VICC laboratory research into therapies to help people with cancer
State-of-the-art patient care and personalized cancer therapy
Clinical trials, including Phase I drug development with subsequent Phase II and Phase III testing
Training future hematology and oncology doctors and researchers
Cancer chemotherapy, pharmacology, and biological therapy with an emphasis on solid tumors
Treating bleeding and coagulation disorders, anemia and other disorders of blood
POSITION SHIFT
Monday-Friday (8am-5pm) with one administrative day per week
Provide shared coverage of MRI and infusion amongst APP team
Location: VICC Belle Meade
No call, nights or weekends
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Obtains and documents a health history; performs and documents complete, system-focused, or symptom-specific physical examination, assessment and plan of care.
In collaboration, provides healthcare services for primary, acute and complex care of patients and manages patients’ overall care, identifying expected outcomes for diagnoses.
Orders, performs, interprets and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information and diagnostic procedures where indicated.
Forms differential diagnoses and treats acute and chronic conditions.
Prescribes therapeutic interventions for both pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic and surgical, needed to achieve expected outcomes.
Utilizes evidence-based, approved practice protocols in planning and implementing care.
Initiates appropriate referrals and consultations
Provides specialty specific consultation services upon request and within a specialty scope of practice.
Facilitates the patient’s transition between and within health care settings.
