Rappahannock Community College (RCC), founded in 1970, provides high-quality educational and training opportunities throughout a 12-county service region an hour east of Richmond on the beautiful western shore of the Chesapeake Bay with access to fresh local seafood and water activities. RCC seeks applicants for our Senior Accountant position. This is a full-time, classified staff position with an excellent benefits package. The anticipated salary range will be $74,000 – $84,000, commensurate with experience.
Reporting to the Business Manager, the Senior Accountant will investigate budget variances, manage vendor payments and maintain the integrity of the general ledger. This position will work closely with college leadership and other finance professionals to reconcile accounts, review quarterly or annual reports and ensure the efficiency of accounting practices.
The Senior Accountant will reconcile general funds and cash balances, monitor budgetary expenditures and encumbrances, and ensure accuracy of financial reports. This position will provide guidance to other accounting personnel in the processing of complex accounting transactions. This role will act as the go-to person for day-to-day problem solving in concert with the Business Office Manager and will serve as the main resource for RCC’s Workforce Enterprise System (WES). The incumbent will also assist in the authentication and compliance of accounting operations and financial transactions. This role will act as a department liaison with other VCCS departments when necessary. This position will serve as the Business Office main point of contact for the Warsaw campus location and will supervise one position.
Other duties will include managing the bad debt process, preparation of deposits, and processing student payments.
