The Department of Economics seeks to hire a tenured Associate or Full Professor in Agricultural Economics. This position is one of six positions in a cluster hire that will have research and teaching responsibilities, along with affiliations with the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD). The approximate division of responsibilities for this position is 25% teaching, 50% research, 20% Outreach and 5% service. The home college for the position is the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
The individual in this position is expected to develop or maintain a nationally recognized research and teaching program in Agricultural Economics with emphasis on the following: Agricultural Policy, Agricultural Markets and Agricultural Trade. The successful candidate will be expected to publish regularly in appropriate refereed journals, present at national and international conferences, engage in relevant outreach activities as appropriate, pursue outside funding, advise graduate students in the research areas described above, and have an active research project under the auspices of the Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station. The teaching assignment is expected to be two courses per year.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Economics, Agricultural Economics or related field
Full Professor: For consideration at the professor rank, in addition to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a closely related discipline, applicants must meet the department, college, and university standards for appointment at the professor rank with tenure, including national distinction in scholarship, as evidenced by wide recognition and outstanding contributions to the field or profession and the ability to sustain contributions to the field or profession and to the university.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong training in microeconomics and quantitative methods
Strong evidence of research interests in one or more of the following fields: agricultural policy agricultural markets; agricultural finance; agricultural trade
Demonstrated evidence of accomplishments in college teaching
Demonstrated evidence of accomplishments in research
Demonstrated potential for obtaining and managing grants

The Department of Economics, with approximately 35 faculty, has a long tradition of excellence in education, research, and engagement with the community. Our undergraduate program is the academic home to about 500 students in three different majors. Our graduate program offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in economics and agricultural economics, and has placed graduates in vital positions in academia, government, and industry throughout the world. Faculty research covers a broad spectrum ranging from theoretical analyses to applied policy studies. The department is jointly administered by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
